AIM April Joy Ramos wins Koko Pimentel Marikina Christmas Women Chess Festival 2024
The Koko Pimentel Marikina Christmas Women Chess Festival 2024 on December 28-29, 2024 at Ayala Mall Felis, Marikina, witnessed a remarkable performance by AIM April Joy Ramos, who clinched victory with a flawless 7/7 score. This year’s tournament was particularly challenging, drawing top-tier players from around the Marikina City eager to claim the title.

From the very start, the top seed AIM Ramos showcased exceptional strategic acumen and deep concentration, setting the tone with decisive victories in the initial rounds. Each match saw her navigating complex positions and employing a mix of aggressive and defensive tactics and outmaneuver her opponents.
In round 6 she faced Yasmin Luissa Capitulo,where her calculated risks paid off, securing the essential one point and making it a virtual champion after 6 rounds. And at the last round, she defeated the 4th seed Rayne Maniacup when she navigated her pieces with both caution and daring, ultimately outplaying her adversaries and secured the victory.
