Ediz Gurel wins Prague Challengers 2024 with double celebration.
The 6th Prague Challengersfinished with a wonderful result. Ediz Gurel secured path to victory by beating Anton Korobovin the final round while Jaime Santos Latasa ended in a draw thus missed the chance to get the title. For Ediz, winning the PragueChess Challengers is a significant achievement and a testament to his skills, hard work, dedication and strategic prowess that goes into mastering the game of chess. It's always impressive to see talented individuals excel in a top level chess tournaments. It’s also the great significant for his chess career
getting his 3rd and final norm for grandmaster (GM) title.
Before the final round, both ofthem have the same score of 5.5/8 giving Jaime a better tiebreak. In the last round both Jaime and Ediz played black against R. Vaishali and Anton Korobov and both had slight advantage in the endgame but Jaime failed to materialize and draw while Ediz converted to full point thus winning the tournament.
