The 24th PCCC Open Rapid Chess Tournament 2024 on December 28, 2024 at Baguio Center Mall witnessed a remarkable performance by Israelito Rillaroza, who clinched victory with a flawless 7/7 score. This year’s tournament was particularly challenging, drawing top-tier players from around the region eager to claim the title.

Each match saw him navigating complex positions and employing a mix of aggressive and defensive tactics, tailored finely to outmaneuver his opponents.
His 6th and 7th rounds were no less impressive, showing not only his tactical brilliance but also his resilience in overcoming challenging scenarios. In round 6 he faced his contender, 6th seed Xyrus Gil Arinos, here his calculated risks paid off, securing the essential one point. And at the last round, the crucial match where he defeated the 2nd seed AGM Daryl Penaflorida, when he navigated his pieces with both caution and daring, ultimately outplaying his adversaries and secured the victory.
