Remegio Galenzoga III wins 3rd GMG Cup Rapid 2025
The 3rd GMG Chess Cup Rapid Tournament on April 5, 2025 at GMG Chess Club, Binan, Laguna, witnessed a remarkable performance by Remegio Galenzoga III, who clinched victory with a impressive 6/7 score. This year’s tournament was particularly challenging, drawing top-tier players from Laguna and sorrounded places eager to claim the title.

From the very start, the 12th ranked Remegio showcased exceptional strategic acumen and deep concentration, setting the tone with decisive victories in the first 2 rounds. Each match saw his navigating complex positions and employing a mix of aggressive and defensive tactics and outmaneuver his opponents.
In round 3 he faced the 2nd place and 7th ranked Christian,where he lost with some short calculation in the R+N+Ps endgame

but he swiped off all his opponents in the 4th-7th rounds against Edwin Caballero, John Vincent Book, Gary Legaspi and Jefte Crebillo getting 6/7 points, a sole lead and secured the victory.

The atmosphere was fully-airconed inside the mall eagerly watching each move as strategies unfolded on the board. This event not only highlighted the competitive spirit of chess but also fostered a sense of community among players and fans alike.
