Sherwin Tiu wins the 2nd Engr. Ricardo V. Paragua Memorial Open Chess Tour Blitz 2024
Sherwin Tiu reaffirmed his reputation as a blitz chess maestro in the recent 2nd Engr. Ricardo V. Paragua Memorial Open Chess Tour Blitz 2024 last December 22, 2024 at Jackman Plaza, Munoz, Quezon City. The event attracted a formidable lineup of competitors, including International Masters (IM), FIDE Masters (FM), and many strong players, all vying for supremacy on the 64 squares. Yet, Tiu, with remarkable composure and strategic flair, emerged as the unequivocal champion, clinching the event with a stunning score of 6.5/7.

Throughout the tournament, Sherwin's speed, tactical sharpness, determination, and unwavering composure were evident in his game play. As he finished first and received the cash prize of P5,000 + medal. While, Kevin Arquero battled to cope the 1st placed but he missed and drew his last round with 6/7 points and secured the 2nd placed with superior tie than 3rd placed Louie Salvador. Both of them received the P3,000 and P2,000 cash + medal respectively.
Spectators watched in awe as he navigated the complexities of each match with apparent ease, weaving through positional plays and tactical confrontations. His only draw came in a tightly contested game against his fellow veteran Kevin Arquero, a testimony to the high-caliber opposition he faced. However, undeterred by this minor setback, Tiu's relentless drive and focus saw him clinch victory after victory.
